The question regarding the ease of starting one’s own business is one which is asked quite often. There are many reasons why individuals express an interest in starting their own business from home which makes the desirability level of this type of occupation quite high. Prior to starting their own business, individuals should consider a few different factors to determine just how easy, or not so much, starting one’s own business may be.

Type of Business

The type of business which one is anxious to pursue is an important concept to consider in order to determine how easy or difficult it may be to start operations. Some goods and services concepts may be more difficult to pull together than others and the type of business will determine how easily one can pursue it. The good news is that there are a multitude of business options available to individuals hoping to start their own business so if one business concept does not work, the prospective business owner can simply choose another one.

Work Space Available

The work space which is available to future business owners is also something which will determine the degree of difficulty with regard to starting one’s own business. If the person wishes to pursue their job from home, it is crucial to ensure that the work space is adequate in size, location and inclusiveness. In the alternative, for those who are going to work out of home and a warehouse, for example, both of these locations must be surveyed.

Employees

Whether or not employees will be part of the business is another important factor to consider in order to determine the ease of starting one’s own business. Although more employees may make the work load progress much more efficiently, having employees will present a bunch of new issues for the business owner to contemplate such as taxes, workers compensation, schedules and more.

The Simpler the Business Operations, The Easier It May Be

All in all, the simpler that the business operations and overall business concept may be, the easier it may be for the individual to start their own business. It is sometimes best to start out small and then increase the size of the company as the business owner becomes more comfortable with their new job situation and is better able to tackle any and all issues which come their way. Laying out a business plan ahead of time will enable the future business owner to see whether their overall business concept will be one which they can pull off in an easy manner.

There is a very good chance that your competition has succeeded in reaching out to customers on an emotional or subconscious level where you have not. If the competition is using marketing techniques that speak to customers, so to say, it will not necessarily matter that you have better pricing and better products to offer. They will make the sale every time. Your traditional marketing techniques might improve your sales, but they will not produce the skyrocketing results your competition is enjoying.

Your company offers the best product or service of its kind in your industry. Its prices also happen to trump all comers. Tons of money is dumped each year into advertising and marketing yet your sales have not taken off. Meanwhile, your competition is enjoying a boon that is unbelievable.

What are you doing wrong?

Chances are it has nothing to do with your product, service or the pricing involved. The likely culprit for your sluggish returns is found in how your marketing is handled. Even if you are spending a lot of money and really getting the word out there, it may not pay off. If your message does not reach customers the right way, your gains may only be modest at best.

Take a look at the competition and see how it is getting the word out about a product or service. Look beyond the actual frequency of campaigns or the vehicles that are used. Pay attention to the substance, style and presentation of the advertising.

So, why is it that emotions are so important in marketing?

Consider some of the most successful companies in the world. They have spent a great deal of time and effort making themselves household names. Many have done this by reaching out to consumers on the emotional and subconscious levels.

When customers are appealed to on an emotional level, they will respond even if they do not necessarily mean to. People simply gravitate toward products, services or companies they feel they can trust. They are also more likely to support products that they believe can do something for them or their families that other products might not be able to.

Say you sell laundry detergent. Your product is marketed as the greatest powerhouse with the most value. Your sales are good, but they could be better.

As you try to grow your reputation, competition comes on the market. Its product is clearly not as good as yours and its price might even be a bit higher. Its packaging, logo and promotions, however, have been designed to reach consumers on an emotional level. The commercials show busy working moms beaming that their children look so well taken care of. They might show single guys impressing the ladies with their crisp, clean and stylish clothing. While your product might actually do those things, the competition might enjoy a bigger piece of the sales pie because it has convinced others that it provides the solution to their problems.

When it is time to take your business to the next level, marketing will matter. Learning how to reach clients in a different, more compelling way can make all the difference in the world. There are secrets about marketing that can turn the table in your favor; emotional appeals are just one avenue for success.

What is Lifestreaming?

Lifestreaming: when the word is first mentioned, you might instantly think about taping a video camera to your head and hooking your house up with cameras like Big Brother. That’s lifecasting and requires a lot more gear, a roll of duct tape and a whole other blog post to explain.

Instead, we’ll focus on lifestreaming. Lifestreaming is the art of streaming together all of your online / Internet activities into one succinct, easy to read stream, so that people who are most interested in what you have to say can follow along.

Imagine that you have a blog and here, you put up some really great blog posts. You hit publish and then you wait. You wait for visitors to find your posts and comment on them. In the meantime, you pop over to Twitter and you hang out there … trying to convince people to go to your post and comment (using sentences like, “Did anyone see my new blog post?”) but alas, people just aren’t going.

So, you then go to Facebook and post it up as a note and you tag some friends and you wait to see if that worked. You hang out in Facebook land for awhile before remembering that you should go and Digg the post, Stumble Upon it and then get it out on Plurk, LinkedIn and the other fifty social media sites that you have accounts with.

Sounds like a lot of work, doesn’t it? What if instead, this happened:

Here, you post a blog post and have the lifestream do automatic pinging to Technorati, Twitter, Feedburner and Ping-o-Matic. Your lifestream is also setup to fully support user sharing which will allow your visitors to more easily share your content amongst each other. Lastly, you only need to worry about doing two things manually and you can save that activity for those “special” blog posts that you put extra effort into.

The lifestream also supports incoming information effortlessly. You can bring into your lifestream (aka your blog) internet browsing, travel plans, social networking updates, photos, books, audio and video. With the proper design, you can bring in content and syndicate it out effortlessly and without duplication.

The beauty of having a design like the one below is that your efforts are instantly maximized for full effectiveness and you do a lot less manual work. Then, instead of sitting and waiting for the visitors and the blog commentary to arrive, you can get on with your other work. All while knowing that you pushed your exposure to the maximum.

The key with lifestreaming is to bring in as many sources in your life as possible so you can share instantly and with the people who mean the most to you – your tribe.

You can even do lifestreaming on the fly with a few mobile applications.

Regardless of how you use your lifestream – whether it is too syndicate out content about you and your life or if it’s focused on a particular niche area in business – the lifestream helps to create an amazing flow of data for your audience.

FruitI seemed to have lost count on how many times I’ve read and heard of celebrity marriages failing almost left and right. Not that I care (and personally I don’t), it seems strange that we often see movie and TV stars as flawless people, living the fairytale life of riches and glamour. I suppose we all have to stop sticking our heads in the clouds and face reality.

There are many ways to lose your sense of self-esteem despite of how trivial it could get. But whatever happens, we should all try not to lose our own sense of self.

So what does it take to be a cut above the rest? Here are some of the things you can think and improve on that should be enough for a week.

1. Know your purpose

Are you wandering through life with little direction – hoping that you’ll find happiness, health and prosperity? Identify your life purpose or mission statement and you will have your own unique compass that will lead you to your truth north every time.

This may seem tricky at first when you see yourself to be in a tight or even dead end. But there’s always that little loophole to turn things around and you can make a big difference to yourself.

2. Know your values

What do you value most? Make a list of your top 5 values. Some examples are security, freedom, family, spiritual development, learning. As you set your goals for 2005 – check your goals against your values. If the goal doesn’t align with any of your top five values – you may want to reconsider it or revise it.

The number shouldn’t discourage you, instead it should motivate you to do more than you can ever dreamed of.

3. Know your needs

Unmet needs can keep you from living authentically. Take care of yourself. Do you have a need to be acknowledged, to be right, to be in control, to be loved? There are so many people who lived their lives without realizing their dreams and most of them end up being stressed or even depressed for that matter. List your top four needs and get them met before it’s too late!

4. Know your passions

You know who you are and what you truly enjoy in life. Obstacles like doubt and lack of enthusiasm will only hinder you, but will not derail your chance to become the person you ought to be. Express yourself and honor the people who has inspired you to become the very person you wanted to be.

5. Live from the inside out

Increase your awareness of your inner wisdom by regularly reflecting in silence. Commune with nature. Breathe deeply to quiet your distracted mind. For most of us city slickers it’s hard to even find the peace and quiet we want even in our own home. In my case I often just sit in a dimly lit room and play some classical music. There’s sound, yes, but music does soothe the savage beast.

6. Honor your strengths

What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? List three – if you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help identify these. Are you imaginative, witty, good with your hands? Find ways to express your authentic self through your strengths. You can increase your self-confidence when you can share what you know to others.

7. Serve others

When you live authentically, you may find that you develop an interconnected sense of being. When you are true to who you are, living your purpose and giving of your talents to the world around you, you give back in service what you came to share with others -your spirit – your essence. The rewards for sharing your gift with those close to you is indeed rewarding, much more if it were to be the eyes of a stranger who can appreciate what you have done to them.

Self-improvement is indeed one type of work that is worth it. It shouldn’t always be within the confines of an office building, or maybe in the four corners of your own room. The difference lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better.
